CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

 

PREAMBLE

            We the students of Pamantasan  ng Lungsod ng Pasay(PLP), establish and declare this constitution for the purpose of preserving, protecting and promoting the rights, general welfare and the advancement of the students in the field of Science and Technology. This constitution will preserve each students and the freedom of action of this organization in its relation to other societies.

 

 

ARTICLE I

 

NAME

SECTION 1: This organization shall be known as the PLP Sci-Tech Society.

SECTION 2: The name of the organization shall be known and call in its name PLP-STS.

SECTION 3: The PLP Sci-Tech Society is distinguished as non-political, non -sectarian, and non-denominational. Nobody may use the name of the organization for the advantage and benefits of anybody or any political group.

 

ARTICLE II

 

PRINCIPLES AND OBJECTIVES

SECTION 1: To serve as the forum for expression of ideas and interest of the students specially those who take-up Science as their major.

SECTION 2: To develop scientific skills and attitudes.

SECTION 3: To promote realization of the students to promote academic freedom and to express freely their views and aspirations to attain quality education.

SECTION 4: To expose students on developmental and environmental awareness.

 

ARTICLE III

 

MEMBERSHIP

SECTION 1: All bonafide students of PLP shall be qualified to be a member of PLP Sci-Tech Society and should pay the required membership fee. The amount of the said fee depends on the consensus between the officers and the members of the society.

 

ARTICLE IV

 

 

COMPOSITION OF THE OFFICERS

SECTION 1: All officers must be bonafide member of the organization whether regular or irregular students. All officers must be elected annually unless otherwise specified.

The students in accordance with the constitution must directly elect officers.

SECTION 2: The set of officers of the PLP-STS is composed of the President, President-Elect, Vice-President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, Public Relation.

SECTION 3: The election should be held every fourth week of June.

 

 

ARTICLE V

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OFFICERS

 

SECTION 1: PRESIDENT

  1. The president shall be responsible for leading the organization.
  2. Have the power to call special meetings whenever necessary.
  3. Represent the organization in any conference meeting.
  4. Issue official statement from him/her of through the PRO noted by the president or the adviser,

 

SECTION 2: PRESIDENT-ELECT

  1. Automatically tale all the duties of the president when his/her term is finished.
  2. Have the power to call a meeting whenever necessary.

 

SECTION 3: VICE PRESIDENT

  1. Take the duties of the  president in his/her absence.
  2. Assist the president in decision making whenever necessary.
  3. Shall perform other duties assigned by the president.

 

SECTION 4: SECRETARY

  1. Keep and prepare accurate minutes of meeting. Shall be responsible to the distribution of notices of meeting.
  2. Call the rules before opening the meeting.
  3. Take charge of the official correspondents of PLP-STS.

SECTION 5: ASSISTANT SECRETARY

  1.  Take duties of the secretary in his/her absence.
  2. Shall perform other duties assigned by the president.

 

SECTION 6: TREASURER

  1. Keep accurate and effective report duty audited by the auditor.
  2. Take charge of the presentation of the budget and funds only in accordance with the policies of the organization.
  3. Be the custodian of all funds.
  4. Shall distribute financial reports to the body for accuracy and transparency.

SECTION 7: AUDITOR

  1. Examine and certify the correctness of the annual reports of the treasurer.
  2. Examine and audit the books of accounts and financial reports of the PLP-STS at least once a month.

 

SECTION 8: PUBLIC RELATION OFFICER

  1. Take charge of the press release publications and all public relation activities of the PLP-STS .
  2. Shall perform other duties assigned by the president.

 

SECTION 9: BUSINESS MANAGER

  1. Shall prepare plans, projects, studies for development and welfare of the students.
  2. Prepare feasibility studies for proposed projects.
  3. Shall perform other duties assigned by the president.

 

SECTION 10: SERGEANT AT ARMS

  1. Take charge of the peace and orderliness in the organization.
  2. Shall have one boy and one girl for this position.
  3. Shall perform other duties assigned by the president .

 

SECTION 11: YEAR LEVEL REPRESENTATIVE

4th  YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

A.    Shall represent the 4th year level in any activities conducted by the organization

B.     Shall perform other duties assigned by the president.

 

3rd YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

A.    Shall represent 3rd year level in any activities conducted by the organization.

B.     Shall perform other duties assigned by the president.

 

2nd YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

A.    Shall represent 2nd year level in any activities conducted by the organization.

B.     Shall perform other duties assigned by the president.

 

ARTICLE VI

 

ADVISER

SECTION 1: The PLP-STS shall have one adviser. The adviser must be full time instructor/professor of any colleges as long as he/she is teaching science subjects.

 

SECTION 2: Shall uphold the principles and goals of the organization.

 

ARTICLE VII

 

PLP SCI-TECH SOCIETY’S ROLES AND FUNCTION

SECTION 1: To enhance the skills of the students in the field of Science and Technology.

SECTION 2: To facilitate science-related experiential learning activities.

SECTION 3: To organize, coordinate and undertake student’s activities about science.

 

ARTICLE VIII

TERM OF OFFICE

SECTION 1: All elected officers shall hold office for a period of one year until their respective successors have been elected and qualified.

SECTION 2: In the event of resignation, forced termination or inability of the officers to perform their duties the decision should be decided by the body.

SECTION 3: Vacancies can be resolved through succession or appointments by the adviser.

 

ARTICLE IX

MEETINGS

SECTION 1: A special meeting of the organization may be called by the president whenever necessary.

SECTION 2: A regular session or meeting is always an open house meeting.

SECTION 3: The PLP-STS shall have at least once a week meeting.

SECTION 4: The orders of business during regular meeting of the PLP-STS are as follows:

A.    Invocation

B.     Roll call and Call to order

C.     Determination of the Quorum

D.    Reading and Approval of the previous business

E.     Present Agenda

F.      Matters Arising

G.    Discussion

H.    Adjournment

 

SECTION 5: Any officer that fails to attend the general meeting 3 times in semester without prior notice will be automatically terminated from his/her position.

 

ARTICLE X

 

AMENDMENT

SECTION 1: Changes in this Constitution and By-Laws may be made at any regular business meeting of the organization, provided such amendment shall have been present in writing at a previous meeting and copies of the proposed amendment be furnished to each member present.

SECTION 2: Amendment to the Constitution shall be made from the 2/3 votes of all members of the organization.

ARTICLE XI

 

EFFECTIVITY

 

SECTION 1: This Constitution and By-Laws shall take effect immediately upon its ratification by the majority of votes of the member of the body present in the general meeting.
