Brief History of the College of Education
The College of Education was established simultaneously with the creation of a locally funded institution known as the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasay (PLP), by virtue of Pasay City Ordinance 271 series of 1994. Today, the PLP-COEd is now in its seventeen year (17) of existence.
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasay (PLP) College of Education offers two baccalaureate degree programs in teacher education: Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor in Secondary Education (BSEd). Its enrolment started with fifty (50) students in the Academic Year (AY) 2004 – 2005 and forty eight (48) on the second semester giving a total of ninety eight (98) students. Now, in the Academic Year (AY) 2010 – 2011, the total enrolment for first semester was 1,181 and 1,151 students for the second semester with a total of 2,332 enrolees.
The college produced thirty (30) graduates only in its first Commencement Exercise in the year 1998 but in the thirteenth (13th) Commencement Exercise last April 7, 2011; a total of 230 graduates obtained successfully their Bachelor Degree in Education. For the first time, the April 7, 2011 graduates of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasay (PLP) was led by a BSE graduate with the honor of Summa Cum Laude, 3 BSE graduates, Magna Cum Laude, 5 BSE and 1 BEED graduates, Cum Laude, all coming from the College of Education.
